Update...

Hi everyone. Can't believe it has been a month since I last wrote - feels more like about 6. We have been busy doing not much at all. Actually - Todd has been busy working his butt off but at home things have been ambling along fine. For those of you in the know today is Todd's b'day. We've got a bottle of sparkling red (and of course Beer)on chill and we are ordering in pizza for tea. Haven't had pizza from Hedland before but people have assured us it is good. Then we've got a fudge, chocolate cakey thing for sweets - I love birthdays so much! Don't have to be mine - just as long as I get to participate in the food.

Weird things have been happening locally. The other day it rained - heaps. The max temp here was 21 - it is usually 30-33. We were sitting around with jumpers on, looking at the rain and feeling very relaxed. As Todd says, it is amazing how tense you can get when all you see is blue, cloudless sky day in day out. I'm not trying to tease you - it is really nice to see something different occasionally. Not to mention being able to pull the doona on at night and snuggle in. Hedland does get rain eventually but usually not until Decemberish and then with heaps of humidity.

Also, one of the big iron ore ships broke free of it's moorings two nights ago and ran aground in the channel. This was a huge thing here with just about every local making their way down to have a look first thing in the morning. The carpark was like a circus with people driving in and out, with cameras flashing all around. I've popped a photo in above but it really doesn't do it justice - sort of thing you have to experience in person (or not!).

Seth and I have been getting out and about a bit more. He is fully aware of where we drive to now. If we pull up next to the park he claps his hands - if we go to the Kmart carpark, which happens to host McDonalds, the response is even more excited. Everyone who knows me well knows that I have a regular need for cheeseburgers. For whatever moral reasons I may have for avoiding maccas I really just do occasionally need a cheeseburger. But now I have found another reason to go to maccas - their playground. It is INSIDE, it is padded, it is toddler proof and inevitably it has other kids running around. Seth loves it - I don't have to worry about him getting sunburnt and there is the bonus of an icecream or milkshake at the end of playtime (he claps his hands for those too).

We are apparently getting another playground at the end of our street but they are taking their time about constructing it and we've yet to see how much shade they'll provide. Hopefully a lot - it is only sensible here because otherwise you can't go on anything past about 10.30am. The other thing Sethie loves is swimming. He brings me his little swimmer nappies now - just in case I can be convinced to take him to the pool. He is full on walking (although still in a slightly sideways crab action) and tried to walk through the pool the other day. He came up spluttering but fine. We had a work dinner for Todd at the Rec Club the other night and of course he wanted to get down and walk around - should have seen him doing a circuit around everyone eating their dinner and then through all the people leaning against the bar. He had a great time.

We are off to Karratha on the weekend. We are going to have a look at Point Samson and Cossack on the way back and of course there is some shopping to do - fishing gear for Todd, toys for Seth and clothes for me! Hopefully we have a good time and Seth manages to sleep in the caravan park cabin.

I'll close now on a highlight. Todd's brother Glenn and his wife Jo had a beautiful baby girl just under a month ago. Her name is Kenya Sahli Pentney and Jo tells me that everything is going really well with her. They are in Ulladulla, NSW and we aren't exactly sure when we'll get to meet her in person but we can't wait.
